Our Christmas Tree filled with some of our sweethearts!
With three more families still waiting to come, all those beautiful faces certainly
enhanced the beauty of our Christmas tree!
Christmas was over all too soon, and we couldn't bear to take down the tree with all our sweethearts on it, so we took down the Christmas decorations, and then put the grandkids back up on the tree. With Valentine's Day coming soon, I decided to hang my heart decoration on the door early, and cut out red hearts to go on the tree. It now became our "Sweetheart Tree"
Of course, we had to celebrate New Years Eve. I had to send Lynn to the store to get some items for me. We had planned to have our Missionary Family over to bring in the New Year. When Lynn came back from the store, he brought with him a few more things than what I had on my list. While I was busy preparing food, this is what he was doing:
Nothing like having the house look festive for New Year's Eve!
Everyone got quite a laugh out of it when they came in the door!
We had a buffet of snack foods and drinks. When we couldn't eat any more, we got out the games and passed the time seeing who was the most knowledgeable about South Africa as we played "30 Seconds", a game the Hunts bought here in South Africa.
And what would New Year's Eve be without hats?
Of course, Lynn thought we needed those to make it more festive!
Happy game players! After each game, one person would open a "popper". They are the red items lying on the table. They are a big thing over here. You pull the ends and they pop open and a piece of candy, a prize and a fortune pops out! They are always good for a laugh!
The happy game winners! Hooray!
Our dinner had finally settled and we had room for dessert at last!
Mint brownies and ice cream! Yum!!
At midnight, they started cutting down some of the decorations...
and of course the blow horns came out as well!!
HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE !!!! HAPPY 2014!
As you can see, missionaries sometimes do things other than preach the Gospel!
